Can you tell us a bit about your experience and motivation for teaching this course? GUEST: Absolutely! I've spent over 15 years working in healthcare management, and I've seen firsthand the need for sustainable practices in our industry. I created this course to empower leaders to make a positive impact on the environment and patient outcomes. HOST: That's fantastic. Now, what are some current trends in green healthcare leadership that you're excited to share with your students? GUEST: There's growing interest in green policies and energy efficiency measures, like LED lighting and smart heating systems. Additionally, waste management is a hot topic, with many organizations focusing on reducing, reusing, and recycling waste. HOST: Those sound like crucial areas of focus. Speaking of challenges, what do you find most difficult when it comes to integrating sustainable practices into healthcare organizations? GUEST: The main challenge is often resistance to change and a lack of understanding about the benefits of going green. It's essential to educate staff and demonstrate the long-term cost savings and improved patient care that can result from sustainable practices. HOST: That makes sense.
