About this Podcast
HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm excited to be talking with Dr. Jane Smith, an expert in pediatric health and the lead instructor for the Masterclass Certificate in Pediatric Health Activism. Dr. Smith, can you tell us a bit about what inspired you to create this course? GUEST: Absolutely, I've seen so many dedicated professionals and advocates who want to make a difference in children's health but lack the necessary skills in health policy, community engagement, and social justice. I wanted to create a program that would empower them to drive change. HOST: That's wonderful. Could you share any current trends in pediatric health activism that you're seeing in the industry? GUEST: Certainly, there's a growing emphasis on patient-centered care and addressing health disparities. We're also seeing more cross-sector collaboration, where healthcare providers, educators, and activists work together to improve children's health outcomes. HOST: That sounds collaborative and impactful. What would you say are some of the biggest challenges faced in this field or when teaching this subject? GUEST: One challenge is keeping up with the ever-evolving policy landscape. Another is ensuring that our efforts are culturally sensitive and inclusive, so that all children can benefit from improved health outcomes. HOST: Those are important considerations. Lastly, how do you see the future of pediatric health activism, and what impact do you hope this course will have? GUEST: I believe the future is bright, with increased focus on prevention and holistic care. As for this course, I hope it will equip learners with the skills and knowledge they need to become catalysts for positive transformation in pediatric health. HOST: Dr. Smith, thank you for sharing your insights and for all the work you're doing to empower pediatric health advocates. We're excited to see the impact of the Masterclass Certificate in Pediatric Health Activism. GUEST: Thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure.
