About this Podcast
HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to have Dr. Jane Smith, an expert in remote team management and the instructor of our new course, "Certificate Programme in Distributed Team Management". Welcome, Jane! GUEST: Thanks for having me, it's great to be here! HOST: To start, could you share some personal experiences that led you to specialize in distributed team management? GUEST: Absolutely! I've managed both co-located and remote teams throughout my career, and I found that managing remote teams presented unique challenges and opportunities. I wanted to help other professionals navigate this new landscape effectively. HOST: Interesting! Could you highlight any current industry trends relevant to distributed team management? GUEST: Of course. The rise of digital tools for collaboration and communication has made it easier than ever to manage remote teams. Additionally, there's a growing emphasis on creating a strong team culture and fostering engagement in virtual environments. HOST: That's true. But with these opportunities come challenges. What do you find most difficult when teaching or learning about distributed team management? GUEST: One challenge is helping learners understand the nuances of virtual communication and how to build trust in a remote setting. It's not the same as face-to-face interaction, and it takes practice and intentionality to get it right. HOST: What are your thoughts on the future of distributed team management? Where do you see it heading? GUEST: I believe that remote work will continue to grow in popularity, and as a result, the demand for effective distributed team management will only increase. It's an exciting time to be in this field! HOST: Thank you, Jane, for sharing your insights and experiences with us today! We're looking forward to the launch of the "Certificate Programme in Distributed Team Management" and can't wait to see the impact it will have on professionals leading remote teams. GUEST: Thank you for having me! I'm excited to be a part of it.
