About this Podcast

HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to be joined by an expert in Biophilic Design and Collaboration. Can you tell us a bit about your experience and what drew you to this field? GUEST: Absolutely, I've been working as an architect for over 15 years with a strong interest in sustainable design. Biophilic Design caught my attention because it combines environmental responsibility and human well-being in a very unique way. HOST: That's fascinating! The course is described as empowering professionals to integrate nature into built environments. Could you share how this approach benefits both the environment and the people using these spaces? GUEST: Sure, biophilic design can significantly improve air quality, temperature regulation, and even sound absorption. For occupants, it reduces stress, increases productivity, and promotes healing. It's a win-win for everyone involved. HOST: It certainly sounds like it. Given your industry experience, are there any current trends or challenges in Biophilic Design that you'd like to highlight? GUEST: One trend we're seeing is the increased use of technology to mimic natural elements, like living walls or solar tubes. A challenge, however, is convincing clients of the long-term value when upfront costs can sometimes be higher. HOST: That's a valid concern. As someone who teaches this subject, what strategies do you use to equip your students to address such challenges? GUEST: We focus on providing robust data and case studies that demonstrate the ROI of biophilic design. We also encourage collaboration, so students learn from each other's experiences and perspectives. HOST: That's a great approach. Finally, looking forward, where do you see Biophilic Design heading in the next five to ten years? GUEST: I believe it will become standard practice in many areas of design. With growing awareness around climate change and mental health, biophilic design offers practical solutions that align with these global priorities. HOST: Indeed, it's an exciting time for this field. Thank you so much for joining us today and sharing your insights! GUEST: My pleasure, thank you for having me.
