About this Podcast

HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to be speaking with an expert in sustainable urban green space development. Can you tell us a bit about your experience and what drew you to this field? GUEST: Sure, I've been working as a landscape architect for over 15 years, and I've always been passionate about creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly. The challenge of making cities greener and healthier environments is what excites me most about this field. HOST: That's fantastic. Now, let's talk about the 'Certificate Programme in Sustainable Urban Green Space Development'. What are some of the key topics covered in this course? GUEST: This program focuses on eco-friendly design, community engagement, and biodiversity enhancement. We aim to equip urban planners, landscape architects, and environmental professionals with the skills they need to transform cities into sustainable habitats. HOST: In your opinion, why is community engagement so important in sustainable urban green space development? GUEST: Involving the community in the design process ensures that the spaces we create are not only functional and attractive but also meet the needs of the people who use them. When locals feel a sense of ownership and connection to their green spaces, they're more likely to maintain and care for them. HOST: That makes a lot of sense. Now, every industry has its challenges. What do you think are some of the biggest obstacles in implementing sustainable urban green space development? GUEST: Two major challenges come to mind: funding and policy. Convincing policymakers and stakeholders to invest in green infrastructure can be difficult, especially when competing with other large-scale projects. Additionally, outdated regulations sometimes hinder the implementation of innovative, sustainable designs. HOST: Those are significant challenges indeed. Looking towards the future, how do you see the industry evolving to address these issues? GUEST: I believe we'll continue to see a shift in public perception, with more people recognizing the importance of green spaces for both environmental and mental health. As this happens, I hope we'll see increased funding and support for sustainable urban green space development, as well as updated policies that encourage eco-friendly design. HOST: It's certainly an exciting time to be part of this movement. Thank you so much for joining us today and sharing your insights on the 'Certificate Programme in Sustainable Urban Green Space Development'. We're looking forward to seeing the positive impact this course will have on urban living. GUEST: Thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure discussing this important topic with you.
