About this Podcast
HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to be joined by Dr. Green, an expert in sustainable agriculture and the lead instructor for the Certificate Programme in Sustainable Agro-Ecology. Dr. Green, welcome! GUEST: Thank you, it's great to be here! HOST: Could you start by sharing a bit about your personal experiences and insights that led you to teach this course? GUEST: Absolutely! I've spent over two decades working on organic farms and researching agro-ecological principles. My passion lies in promoting biodiversity and soil health, which I believe are key to a sustainable future. HOST: That's inspiring. Now, let's talk about current industry trends. What do you think are some important developments related to this course? GUEST: There's growing interest in regenerative agriculture, which focuses on rebuilding soil health and increasing biodiversity. Additionally, consumers are becoming more conscious of their food choices and demanding sustainable options. HOST: Those are great points. Now, what challenges have you faced or observed while teaching this subject? GUEST: One major challenge is helping students unlearn conventional farming practices that can be harmful to the environment. Another is addressing the misconception that organic or sustainable farming can't be as profitable as conventional methods. HOST: Interesting. Finally, where do you see the future of sustainable agro-ecology going? GUEST: I'm optimistic about the future. With more awareness and education, I believe we'll see a shift towards regenerative agriculture and a greater appreciation for the value of our ecosystems. HOST: Dr. Green, thank you so much for sharing your insights and experiences with us today. It's been a pleasure learning from you, and I'm sure our listeners have gained a lot as well. GUEST: My pleasure! Thanks for having me. (Note: This conversation is approximately 2 minutes when read aloud.)
